Confessions of a TV Binge Watcher

You've clearly read the title of this blog post otherwise you probably wouldn't still be reading this, but welcome to my first BLOG POST! Naturally, it's about television. You'll learn that television is a large (read: the biggest) aspect of my life at this current point in time. That being said, I thought I'd make my first blog post about all of my favorite TV shows so you can get a sense of who I am (and whether or not I watch "good" TV). On we go!

To begin, I'm going to tell you about my favorite television show.

Are you ready?

Wait for it...

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.

Yup, no shame in it. Friday Night Lights was a masterpiece that didn't get the runtime it deserved. Am I still salty after seven years? You betcha. Not to mention, we keep getting teasers about a reunion movie (but honestly, if Tim Riggins isn't in it... who even cares?) and my heart can't take the push and pull!!

Friday Night Lights is a show that kind of just dropped into my lap one day when I was browsing the library DVDs and the rest is history, at the expense of sounding cheesy. If you haven't watched it, drop EVERYTHING (unless you're watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which in that case, binge watch both) and WATCH IT RIGHT NOW.

Okay, moving on. Can you guess my second favorite TV show?

If you guessed Psych then you're absolutely right! Where can I begin with Psych? Shawn and Gus' relationship... the pop culture references... the writing... and plot... every single little piece of this show was a gift to this world (even the musical and the movie) and I miss it every day. I've binge watched it twice and to be honest, it might be time for another. This show is insanely underrated but I am so glad we got the seasons we did. Have you been able to find the pineapple in every episode?

Without any hesitation, Parks and Recreation is next on the list. Have you ever seen a more wholesome show? Tell me why Parks doesn't get the same hype as The Office? Have you listened to Andy Dwyer talk? All comparing aside, Parks and Recreation is a television show that always puts a smile on my face and I constantly reference in everyday life. The day Parks ended is also the day my life did. Okay, dramatic much? But really, I have two distinct halves of my life: BP (Before Parks) and AP (After Parks).

Okay, okay, I promise I'm almost done. But if you've made it this far you're either my mom or Anna so hi guys!

Here's a speed round where I'm going to list off the rest of the shows I like (in no particular order, except the first three):

  • It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine

  • Bob's Burgers

  • Superstore

  • Schitt's Creek

  • The Good Place

  • Black-ish

  • Chicago P.D.

  • Chicago Fire

  • Modern Family

Honestly, if you've stuck through this blog post, you're probably a television lover like me. And for that, I thank you. If you want to contact me to ask me about my opinions for any of the above listed shows, PLEASE feel free to do so. I'm ALWAYS ready to talk about television because, after all, we are in a Golden Age!
